In "11/16" I try to show the red, white and blue of the two-party system as a workable structure that has over time become destabilized. The upside down flag showing distress. The piece starts as a tight cornered, organized structure with cohesion, a softening in formation leads to like units pairing off. The red and blue becoming unyielding hard lines, the friction between them erupts into a whirl with no cohesion.
